Call for application for 4 Junior Research Chairs at French ENS

The Department of Physics at ENS Paris invites applications for four JRC (Junior Research Chairs) at the postdoctoral level. Appointments will be for two years with a probable one-year extension. 

The Department aims at recruiting outstanding candidates with international experience. Research activities can be experimental and/or theoretical; the Department actively encourages experimental projects. 

Research themes should correspond to one of the following ones:

  1.  Quantum physics: from atoms to condensed matter 
  2.  Biophysics: from the cell to the organism 
  3.  Non-linear physics: from the laboratory to the cosmos 
  4.  Statistical and theoretical physics 

 

Some participation in teaching within ENS-ICFP (International Centre for Fundamental Physics and its Interfaces) Master program is part of the duties http://www.phys.ens.fr/spip.php?rubrigue284&;lang=en

In addition to an internationally competitive salary, ENS-ICFP provides an attractive travel allowance and research funds for experimentalists (I 00 000 euros). The successful candidates are fully integrated into the Department of Physics and its constituent research laboratories.

The positions are funded by the 10-year ENS-ICFP grant, obtained through the French National Excellence initiative.

Applications must be exclusively submitted through AcademicJobsOnline

  1. A cover letter
  2. A complete CV including a list of publications
  3. A research project taking into account possible interactions with research groups/faculty within the Department of Physics at Ecole normale Superieure (no more than 4 pages of A4).

Candidates are encouraged to make early contact with faculty to construct their project and should refer to these contacts in their 4-page research statement. 

Short-listed candidates will be interviewed (videoconferences) in early December 2016.

Only applications received by October 30, 2016, will be considered. The hiring committee will make offers by the end of December 2016. Positions will start in September 2017.
