The Department of Physics at St. Olaf College invites applications for a full-time, tenure track position in theoretical physics at the Assistant Professor level to begin in August 2020. We are looking for candidates who demonstrate potential for excellence in teaching physics in a liberal arts setting as well as excellence in theoretical physics research that substantively involves participation by undergraduate students. Startup funds will be available. Candidates must have earned a Ph.D. in physics or a closely-related field prior to the start date. Postdoctoral research, industry experience, and/or prior teaching experience are desirable additional qualifications.

The Department is particularly interested in applicants who will continue to contribute to our diverse community and to the department’s effort to increase access and opportunities for student populations that are currently underrepresented in physics. The normal teaching load is six courses per year. Teaching responsibilities include courses at all levels in the undergraduate physics curriculum. Duties also involve undergraduate advising and service to the department and college.
